Licensing Rule Reference 19 CSR 30-62.102 Personnel (1) (K) states: Volunteers counted in staff/child ratios, caregivers, and other personnel shall be screened for child abuse/neglect. The screening shall be requested by the provider within ten (10) days of any individual beginning employment or volunteering in the facility. Any investigated allegation of child abuse or neglect involving these persons in which the investigator finds reasonable cause to believe that the individual is the alleged perpetrator of child abuse or neglect shall be evaluated by the department. After review, the department may prohibit the person from being present in the facility during child care hours. Violation A caregiver was not sensitive to the capabilities, interests and problems of children in care as evidenced by :Alexis and Kelse, caregivers in the two-year-old room, required children to sit on a rug and wait for lunch for over 15 minutes without any toys or activities. When the children became restless, the caregivers yelled at them for not sitting quietly and for becoming aggressive toward each other. Violation The provider did not supply and serve food according to the Meal and Snack Food Chart as evidenced by : in the older preschool classroom, the 2 caregivers stated they were out of 6 ounce styrofoam cups. They were serving milk in small, 1-2 ounce water cups. This did not meet the required milk serving. In addition, when the styrofoam cups were available, they showed CCFS Harris how much milk was served. It was still only about 2 ounces. Also, in the 2-year-old classroom, a required milk serving also was not being served. They, too, were only serving 1-2 ounces of milk. Caregivers must measure the milk serving to ensure that a complete serving size is offered.
