The facility did not have a fenced outdoor play area that was on or adjoining the day care property and was accessible without hazard as evidenced by the outdoor space did not adjoin the child care property - the space was located adjacent to the fenced playground and the front of the facility. The following items were observed within the space children walk through to get to the fenced playground: Adult scissors, an opened can of paint, two packs of cigarettes and a lighter, insect repellent, a bag of construction tools including a hammer, a full size spade/shovel, weed eater, a rake, a two vat sink, a bucket of cigarette butts, and cigarette butts on the ground . On October 30, 2020, CCFS Tuschhoff observed a gate propped against the area containing paint, a weed eater, a rake, and a two vat sink. The gate was not secured. While there is a door that leads directly into the fenced playground, a child in care verified that sometimes the children enter the playground through the front door. In addition, the school-age children walk to this front area to enter the facility after school. The equipment in this area can also be reached through the gaps in the railing of the fence. There are also cigarette butts in the leaves on the ground adjacent to the fence.

In addition, one child in care told CCFS Tuschhoff that smaller children are allowed to hold sparklers. Tabatha Thurman told CCFS Tuschhoff that she has only used the poppers and the snakes. The child in care stated the previously approved assistant allowed all children, including the babies, to hold sparklers. The item(s) was/were located to where children had access. Specifically, the children were allowed to hold and be around the fireworks used on the premises. The fireworks were not observed at this inspection.

In addition, the railings are pulling away from the fencing. In addition, there are sharp screws and nails exposed to children. One railing that is not secured is adjacent to the porch entryway. Another unsecured railing is immediately adjacent to the road in front of the facility. The unsecured railing is behind a playhouse. .
