Violation A child was left without competent supervision as evidenced by CI Duckworth observed Keira Griffin walk out of the classroom and grab diapers/pullups that were in a cubby outside the room. The 3-4 year old children were in the room without supervision for approximately 15 to 20 seconds. It was hard to determine how long the children were without supervision because Keira Griffin was outside the classroom when CI Duckworth walked up the stairs to the classroom. Then, later during the inspection, CI Duckworth observed the transition of the 3-4 year old age group (Keira Griffin's class) to lunch room. Keira and her class were walking down the hall when 2 of the children went around the corner of the hall, running ahead of the others, and started to go downstairs. No adult was with them for about 10 to 15 seconds. Keira was unable to see the children at the front of the line as they were around the corner and out of her sight. Rayna Clark was walking with CI Duckworth at the time and was able to stop the children from going down the stairs and had them wait for their teacher and other children to come around the corner and catch up with the class so they were all together again and she had sight of the children. Licensing Rule Reference 5 CSR 25-500.182 Child Care Program (1) (A) 1. states: Caregivers shall not leave any child without competent supervision. Correction Required The facility shall provide competent supervision for each child as required.
