On August 23, 2023, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received an allegation that there are eighty children at the facility and not enough staff members, putting the facility out of ratio. After conducting an investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Ian Fyfe has found this allegation to be substantiated based on the following evidence:
5 CSR 25-500.042(18)., which states that: "The number and ages of children a group child care home or child care center is authorized to have in care at any one (1) time shall be specified on the license and shall not be exceeded except as permitted within these rules."
AND
5 CSR 25-500.042(19)., which states that: "All child care provided on the premises of a licensed group child care home or child care center shall be in compliance with the licensing rules, the conditions specified on the license, and the conditions of any variances granted to the licensee."
On August 28, 2023, Compliance Inspector (CI) Ian Fyfe conducted an unannounced inspection to My Mother's Roots LLC and observed sixty-six children to be present at the facility. The facility's license has a total capacity of sixty children. The facility was maintaining correct staff/child ratios during the inspection. While present at the facility, CI Fyfe interviewed Director Gwendolyn Wrice. Ms. Wrice informed CI Fyfe that there are typically eighty children present at the facility during the summer.
On September 6, 2023, CI Fyfe conducted an unannounced inspection to the facility and observed seventy children to be present, the youngest of which was two weeks old. The facility was maintaining correct staff/child ratios during the inspection.
