On September 26, 2023, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received an allegation that the facility was not serving appropriate meals. After conducting an investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Michelle Honea found the allegation to be substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.202(1)(A): which states: "The provider shall supply and serve nourishing food according to the Meal and Snack Food Chart provided in this rule."
AND
5 CSR 25-500.202(1)(D): which states: "Snacks of fruit juice, raw fruit or vegetable, milk, crackers, cheese, peanut butter or similar nutritious food shall be served."
AND
5 CSR 25-500.202(1)(E): which states: "One (1) serving of fluid milk shall be served with each meal."
AND
5 CSR 25-500.202(1)(G): which states: "The acceptable food components and serving sizes for meals and snacks are outlined in the following chart for each age group. Menus and amounts served shall be based on this chart."
On October 10, 2023, Nikki Rhodes stated that she did not realize that they had to follow the food guidelines since the facility is not on the food program. She does not provide milk with each meal due to the waste. Water is served at meals. Lunch might be mac and cheese with applesauce along with a bread. Breakfast might be pancakes or something similar. Snacks can be anything from a granola bar, oatmeal creme pie, or nutty buddies.
On October 10, 2023, director Monica Wiser stated that she does not provide milk with each meal due to the waste. Water is served at meals.
On October 10, 2023, CI Honea observed lunch served of chicken nuggets, banana slices, and saltine crackers with water.
5 CSR 25-500.202 (1)(K): which states: "Menus shall be available to parents upon request."
