Compliance Inspector (CI) JD Greer conducted an unannounced investigation of the allegation that Child A's (2 years old) room is 67 degrees. The allegation is substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.082(2)(A)5. which states, "The facility shall be dry, temperature controlled, well-ventilated and free of drafts. Children shall not be overheated or chilled. The temperature of the rooms shall be no less than sixty-eight degrees Fahrenheit (68F) and no more than eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit (85F) when measured two feet (2') from the floor."
On October 19, 2023, Compliance Inspector (CI) JD Greer interviewed Director Shaynee Mowrey, who stated the thermostat in the 2's room is at the height where children can reach it. It has happened in the past where a child will push buttons and change the temperature.
On October 19, 2023, CI Greer interviewed Caregiver Kassady Smith, who stated sometimes the children will play with the thermostat and change the temperature.
On October 19, 2023, CI Greer interviewed Caregiver Alyssa Tillman, who stated the children in her class like to play with the thermostat. She constantly has to redirector them not to push the buttons and play with it.
On October 19, 2023, CI Greer conducted an unannounced walkthrough of the facility and observed the 2's classroom temperature was measured in six different locations across the classroom, two feet from the floor. The temperature readings in Fahrenheit were: 64, 64.9, 64.2, 63, 63.1, and 64.0.
