Compliance Inspector (CI) JD Greer conducted an unannounced investigation of the allegation that there are mouse droppings and mice in the facility. The allegation is substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.082(2)(A)9. which states, "The facility shall be clean at all times and free of dirt, insects, spiders, rodents or other pests."
On February 7, 2024, Compliance Inspector (CI) Greer interviewed Assistant Director Kelsey Banta, who stated the facility does currently have an issue with mice. It has been an ongoing issue since the beginning of December 2023. They have worked with three different pest control companies to get the situation under control. A sanitation inspector was recently out to confirm the issue with mice. One day when she was cleaning, she did have a mouse jump onto her.
On February 7, 2024, CI Greer interviewed Caregiver Shaylee Mercer, who stated she has seen mouse droppings when cleaning in the facility. She has seen the droppings when furniture, such as toy shelves, are moved.
On February 7, 2024, CI Greer interviewed Caregiver Alex Dunham, who stated she has seen mouse droppings in the pre-k closet. There used to be food stored in the closet, but now food is stored in the kitchen.
On February 7, 2024, CI Greer interviewed Caregiver Elizabeth Lundgren, who stated about one to two weeks ago she did see a mouse in a trap. She has seen mouse droppings in the 2-year-old classroom. She first noticed mouse droppings about a month ago.
On April 1, 2024, CI Greer reviewed the sanitation reinspection for La Petite Academy, Inc. CI Greer observed the inspection was completed on February 26, 2024, from 9:19 a.m. to 9:48 a.m. The inspection noted there was a mouse infestation.
