On February 29, 2024 the Office of Childhood received a report alleging "The facility requires all children to bring a packed lunch from home and two snacks daily. The facility also requires parents to provide monthly snacks to supply all children." After conducting an investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Caylin Mertz has found this allegation to be substantiated based on the following evidence and rule violation:
5 CSR 25-500.202(1)(A) which states "The provider shall supply and serve nourishing food according to the Meal and Snack Food Chart provided in this rule."
On March 6, 2024 Compliance Inspector (CI) Caylin Mertz conducted an unannounced inspection at the facility. A walkthrough of the facility was also conducted. CI Mertz interviewed Board President and Director Melanie Fraker, Caregiver Amy Lamar, Caregiver Andi Belcovitch, Child A, and Child B. CI Mertz observed the facility enrollment forms and policies & procedures document to state that "all children attending during the lunch hour will need to bring a packed lunch." Melanie, Amy, and Andi all stated that parents provide packed lunches and snacks for their children on a daily basis. They indicated the facility does not currently provide any meals or snacks. Child A and Child B also stated they bring their lunches from home.
