On March 25, 2024 the Office of Childhood received a report alleging "One day there was no water at the daycare for four hours. The staff and kids were unable to flush the toilet, wash their hands, and make bottles." After conducting an investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Caylin Mertz has found this allegation to be substantiated based on the following evidence and rule violations:
5 CSR 25-500.082(3)(A)1. which states "One (1) flush toilet and one (1) adjacent handwashing facility with running water shall be available for every twenty (20) children."
AND
5 CSR 25-500.082(3)(A)3 which states "Toilet and handwashing facilities shall be in working order and convenient for the children's use."
AND
5 CSR 25-500.082(4)(D) which states "Diapering supplies and warm, running water shall be adjacent to the diapering area."
On April 3, 2024 Compliance Inspector (CI) Caylin Mertz conducted an unannounced inspection at the facility. CI Caylin Mertz interviewed Director Stacy Boone, Caregiver Celena Merlicke, Caregiver Johanna Rawlings and Caregiver Skye Campbell. All staff indicated the facility was without water for a few hours within the last few months while a burst pipe or leak was repaired. Handwashing facilities were not in working order and there was no running water while the water was off.

The facility shall notify all staff members of the violations which were substantiated, and specify the actions to be taken by all staff in order to comply with all licensing violations cited. A copy of the memo, letter, or staff meeting agenda shall be submitted to the Office of Childhood.
