Conclusion Summary
Compliance Inspector (CI) Jessica Graham investigate the allegation that caregivers are leaving Child A (9-months-old) in a rocker without using the safety restraints causing the child to fall out of the rocker. Child A was left to cry on the floor for long periods of time without staff attending to them. This allegation is substantiated based on the following: 5 SCR 25-300.090(1) which states: "The premises of all facilities shall be safe and suitable for the care of children." On July 2, 2024, caregivers Leandra Green, Jessica Robins and Crystal Winston all stated that Child A (9-months-old) was placed in a bouncer seat and the safety restraints provided on the seat were not used, resulting in Child A falling out of the seat. Crystal had placed Child A in the seat and before buckling her in, she turned to interact with another child. Child A toppled out of the seat, landing on the floor. She was not injured and Parent A was called immediately. Caregivers Leandra Green, Jessica Robins, Crystal Winston, Sharita Scott and Denise Thornton all stated that Child A wanted to be held all the time. If she was put in a seat or on the floor for tummy time she would cry. Child A was never left for any length of time crying without a caregiver interacting with her. Parent A could not be reached for an interview.
