On October 7, 2024, the Office of Childhood received an allegation that the ceilings have stains and leaks. After conducting an investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Jade Stewart-Martin found the allegation to be substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.082(2)(A)6. which sates: "Walls, ceilings and floors shall be finished with material which can be cleaned easily and shall be free of splinters, cracks and chipping paint. Floor covering shall be in good condition. Lead-free paint shall be used for all painted surfaces."
On October 18, 2024, CI Stewart-Martin observed an area of the ceiling in the preschool bathroom that no longer appeared to have a leak but did have a section of drywall that was cut out and replaced. There was no current leak observed; however, the area is not finished. The repair area was observed and photographed.
On October 18, 2024, assistant director Sarah Williams stated that there was a leak in the ceiling of the preschool bathroom. She called maintenance immediately and the leak has been fixed for approximately three weeks.
