On January 29, 2025, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received an allegation of on January 17, 2025, staff Catherine did not give Child A his morning ADHD medication before school at 8:00 AM. On January 30, 2025, Compliance Inspector (CI) Christy Hughes conducted an unannounced inspection of the facility and found the allegations to be substantiated based on the following information.
5 CSR 25-500.102(1)(E)., "Caregivers shall have knowledge of the needs of children and shall be sensitive to the capabilities, interests, and problems of children in care."
AND
5 CSR 25-500.192(5)(A)., "In case of accident or injury to a child, the provider shall notify the parent(s) immediately. If the child requires emergency medical care, the provider shall follow the parent's(s') written instructions."
On January 30,2025, (CI) Hughes conducted an in-person interview with assistant director Katherine Morris.
Katherine stated that Child A began enrollment on January 14, 2025. Child A was to receive his medication daily at 8:00 AM. On January 16, 2025, Katherine stated that when she realized she forgot to give Child A his medication, Child A was on the van already being transported to school. She did not notify Parent A until Child A was picked up later that evening that he did not get his medication.
On February 06, 2025, Compliance Inspector (CI) Christy Hughes attempted on 2 occasions to contact Parent A and was hung up on both times.
