On February 5, 2025, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received an allegation of they are not given juice or milk in afternoon with snack just told to drink from their water bottles and only one small ziplock bag of snacks to feed 10 to 20 children. The lunch food served is another issue. The spaghetti has no meat/protein in it just noodles and tomato sauce and very small portions are given like half hotdogs, and 4 French fries. On February 5, 2025, Compliance Inspector (CI) Christy Hughes conducted an unannounced inspection of the facility and found the allegations to be substantiated based on the following information.
5 CSR 25-500.202(1)(G) -which states: "The acceptable food components and serving sizes for meals and snacks are outlined in the following chart for each age group. Menus and amounts served shall be based on this chart."
On February 5, 2025, (CI) Hughes conducted in person interviews with caregivers, Nicole Brookshire and Gabby Grosvenor. Nicole stated that they have been serving water with their afternoon snacks and only one component of the 2 required components. She also stated that on spaghetti day, they did not serve a meat or meat alternate component. Gabby stated that the children's snack only consisted of one of the components and then the children were given their water bottles filled with water to drink.
