Compliance Inspector (CI) Jessica Graham investigated the allegation that fire drills are not being done monthly. This allegation is substantiated based on the following rule violation:
5 CSR 25-500.087(2)(F) which states: "Child care staff shall conduct at least one (1) fire drill each month and a disaster drill at least every three (3) months. The disaster drills shall include tornado drills. The provider shall maintain a written record at the facility of the date, type of drill, time required to evacuate the building, and number of children present during the drill."
On February 25, 2025, CI Graham observed the Fire/Tornado Drill Record for the facility. The last recorded fire drill was dated October 30, 2024. Fire drills were not being conducted monthly.
Abigail Rush, director, said that fire drills had not been conducted due to bad weather. She is aware they are supposed to be practiced monthly and will hold additional fire drills to catch up.

The facility shall notify all caregivers (paid employees and paid or unpaid volunteers) of the violations which were substantiated and specify the actions to be taken by all caregivers, in order to comply with all violations cited. A copy of the memo, letter, or meeting agenda shall be submitted to the Office of Childhood.
