On June 10, 2025, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received a complaint alleging they have a severe water leak and damage. When it rains hard, there will be puddles, and some of the areas in the daycare cannot be used by the children. Compliance Inspector (CI) Heather Radney conducted an investigation of the allegation and found it to be substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.082(2)(A)5. - The facility shall be dry, temperature controlled, well-ventilated and free of drafts. Children shall not be overheated or chilled. The temperature of the rooms shall be no less than sixty-eight degrees Fahrenheit (68F) and no more than eighty-five degrees Fahrenheit (85F) when measured two feet (2') from the floor.
On June 26, 2025, CI Radney conducted interviews with Brooke Taylor, Ashlyn Tillman and Lyndall Fraker. Brooke reported when it rains, they use buckets to catch water. The carpet in one area had to be replaced due to the leak. The rubber from the ball pit had to be replaced due to the leak. The mold and mildew smell was bad for one day. The water leaked on the play bench. In the campsite, some of the books were damaged. The front circle time area was affected. The back class had one spot only, right in the middle of the room. They only have issues during the rain and a couple days after. Ashlyn reported when it rains, there are drips from the beams of the ceiling. They had to replace the carpet in one area due to damage. The mulch pit couldn't be used due to damage. Lyndall reported they use a dehumidifier for the musty smell, if there is one, after a rain. They keep kids out of the areas with leaks.
On August 15, 2025, CI Radney received and reviewed a Sanitation Inspection Report from the Bureau of Environmental Health Services. The report is dated August 12, 2025 and completed by Amanda Bortien. The report indicates "...Some water stains were observed on ceiling pipes/beams."
