Compliance Inspector (CI) Jessica Graham investigated the allegation that there is mold growth in four rooms in this daycare (the Lily room, the Lilac room, and possibly the Daisy and Sunflower rooms - the back four rooms).Teachers at the Pre-K found what appears to be black mold on the walls and covering the vents/air ducts. This allegation is substantiated based on the following rule violation.
5 CSR 25-300.090 (1) which states: "The premises of all facilities shall be safe and suitable for the care of children."
On August 4, 2025, CI Graham walked through the classrooms in the infant and toddler building as well as the preschool building. Mold was found in one infant classroom in and along the floor vent cover. No mold was found in any of the preschool building.
Caregivers Jennifer Lafsler, Jenna Lafsler and Maddy Heady have all seen mold on floor vents and on the walls of the classrooms in the infant building. They had informed the director, Nancy Schmitz, and a maintenance worker cleaned areas with bleached and vacuumed. They were concerned about the health of children and caregivers, being that they did not feel the areas were treated appropriately.
An emergency sanitation inspection report was submitted to St. Louis County Health Department on August 4, 2025.
