On August 19, 2025, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received a report alleging "In the infant classroom, they are using a handwashing sink to mix formula in a bottle. There is only one sink in the room." After conducting an investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Caylin Mertz has found this allegation to be substantiated based on the following evidence and rule violation:
5 CSR 25-500.182(1)(E)7 which states "The diapering area and handwashing area shall be separate from any food service area and any food-related materials."
On August 25, 2025, CI Caylin Mertz conducted an unannounced inspection and walkthrough at the facility. Over the course of the investigation, CI Mertz interviewed Director Katrina Coffman, Caregiver Madison Caulfield, Caregiver Raigan Fisher and Caregiver Peyton Gilmore. Peyton, Raigan, Madison, and Katrina indicated bottles are at least sometimes prepared at the handwashing sink in the infant classroom. CI Mertz observed sanitation inspection dated September 3, 2025, which indicates bottles were being prepared in the infant room handwashing sink.
