Conclusion Summary
On November 7, 2025, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received a report alleging that on November 6, 2025, the reporter was working with a class of six 2-year-old children. At 12:00 p.m., one of the children vomited in the class and was sent home. Because of the rules of the school, the reporter had to stay in the class with the children and the vomit. The reporter asked for help and expressed that she did not know how to safely clean vomit off of a carpet many times. The director, Christina Wright, told the reporter that she would get help eventually. The children slept next to the vomit for three hours. There was vomit in the class from 12:00 p.m. to at least 4:30 p.m. After conducting the investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Cole Eddins finds the allegation is substantiated. This conclusion is based on the following evidence of licensing rule violations which occurred at the facility: 5 CSR 25-500.082(1)(I) which states: "All flammable liquids, matches, cleaning supplies, poisonous materials, medicines, alcoholic beverages, hazardous personal care items or other hazardous items shall be inaccessible to children." On November 12, 2025, CI Eddins conducted an unannounced inspection and interviewed Director Christina Wright, Caregiver Klaira Morales, Caregiver Alicia Purnell, Caregiver Alyssa Wesley, Caregiver Angela Coats, Caregiver Carlisse Baker, Caregiver Cecilia Bautista, Caregiver Jelani Smith, Caregiver Kwonna Shart, and Cook Patricia Jones. All staff members provided consistent information. All staff members stated that Former Caregiver Ivy Corvin was supervising Child A when he threw up in the corner of the classroom at around 12:00 p.m. on November 6, 2025. Christina, Angela, and Patricia stated that they all assisted/coached Ivy on how to safely clean up the throw up calmly. After the throw-up was covered in kitty litter and Ivy was equipped with the tools to properly clean up the mess, Ivy still did not clean up the throw-up for four hours. Christina was the one who finally cleaned up the throw-up after observing it was still not cleaned at around 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The time that the children were moved into another classroom was unknown. On November 20, 2025, CI Eddins interviewed Ivy, who stated that on November 6, 2025, she was working in the 2-year-old room when Child A throw up on the carpet near the corner of the classroom sometime after lunch. Shortly after Child A threw up, Patricia came into the classroom to release her for break. Patricia took the children outside to play and once Patricia brought the children back inside the facility, she fed the children snack and moved the children to a different classroom. The vomit remained on the floor until 4:30 p.m.
