On December 15, 2025, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received a report alleging there are roaches found in baby cribs. Compliance Inspector (CI) JD Greer conducted an investigation and found the allegation to be substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.082(2)(A)9. which states, "The facility shall be clean at all times and free of dirt, insects, spiders, rodents or other pests."
On December 16, 2025, On December 16, 2025, Compliance Inspector (CI) JD Greer interviewed LLC Member Sheree Shepherd, Staff Matt Smith, Teacher Cynthia Williams, Teacher Josie Marsh, Teacher Mackenna Orender, Parent A, and Parent B. Parent A and Parent B are teachers at the facility. Parent B stated when she was serving lunch the week of December 8-12, 2025, she saw a roach. It was in the kitchen area. A couple of weeks ago, she saw a roach in the infant room on the table. Parent A stated she has seen a roach in a crib, in the infant area. She does not recall how long ago she saw the roach. Mackenna stated in August 2025, she saw a roach in the baby room in a crib. In October 2025, she saw a roach in the baby room in a crib. Josie stated a couple of months ago, she saw roaches in the kitchen cabinets. During the summer of 2025, she saw a roach in a baby crib. About two months ago, she saw a roach on a table in the baby room. Cynthia stated she saw a roach in one of the baby cribs about six months ago. She has seen roaches two to three times in the dining area. The last time she saw one in the dining area was about four to five months ago. Matt stated teachers and Sheree have notified him of roaches in the building before. Sheree stated Josie, Parent A, and Mackenna have come to her with concerns about roaches in the last six months.
