On March 4, 2026, the Office of Childhood (OOC) received a report alleging it was told that the director is rarely on site. Compliance Inspector (CI) JD Greer conducted an investigation and found the allegation to be substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.102(2)(A)2. which states, "Center directors and group child care home providers routinely shall be on duty during the hours of highest attendance a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. If the facility operates less than forty (40) hours per week, the center director or group child care home provider shall be on duty at least fifty percent (50%) of the operating hours."
On March 11, 2026, CI Greer interviewed Teachers Koeziyea Powell, Callea Simmons, Addison Adams, and Grace Larkin. Koeziyea stated that she works 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. She has worked at the facility for four months. Director Denae Beckett is not there half of the time. Director Denae shows up at lunch time and is at the facility two to three days a week. Callea stated she has been working at the center since December 2025. She works 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Most weeks, Director Denae is present two days a week. Addison stated she works Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Director Denae is not there very often. She usually sees her one to three days a week. This week, Director Denae was there one day, and last week, Director Denae was there one day of the week. Grace stated her schedule varies, and she works somedays 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Director Denae is there a couple days a week.
On March 13, 2026, CI Greer received time cards for Director Denae Becket and observed the week of March 1st to March 7th, Denae worked 25.75 hours. The week of March 8th to March 14th, Denae worked 35.38 hours. The week of March 22nd to March 28th, Denae worked 39 hours.
