On April 24, 2026, the Office of Childhood received an allegation that there is a mouse nest located in the toddler room under the changing table, and there are mouse droppings visible. After completing an investigation, Compliance Inspector (CI) Jackie Ruth found this allegation to be substantiated based on the following information:
5 CSR 25-500.082(2)(A)9. which states, "The facility shall be clean at all times and free of dirt, insects, spiders, rodents or other pests."
On April 27, 2026, CI Ruth conducted a walkthrough of the facility and observed multiple mouse droppings on the inside base of a locked cabinet, located beneath the changing table in the Toddler B classroom.
On April 27, 2026, director Courtney Sinoski stated that Carly Gibson reported to her months ago that there was a mouse nest in the Toddler B classroom, in the cabinet by the diaper pail. However, when Carly showed her, she did not see a mouse nest or mice, but there were some mouse droppings. She called pest control and told Lisa B. to clean up the droppings, but Lisa B. never did. She checked multiple times for mice activity and saw none. Rottler Pest Solutions was at the facility on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and they noted no pest activity.
On April 27, 2026, caregiver Madelyn Peter stated that she has not seen a mouse or droppings since last summer. A parent reported it, and Courtney called the exterminator. Courtney told the staff to keep food sealed and the rooms clean. Someone, she doesn't remember who, said something about a mouse a couple months ago, but she never saw or heard anything.
