| Facilities shall store all external and internal medications at appropriate temperatures in a safe, clean place and in an orderly manner apart from foodstuffs and dangerous chemicals. | All non-unit doses and all controlled substances which have been discontinued must be destroyed on the premises within thirty (30) days. Outdated, contaminated, or deteriorated medications and non-unit dose medications of deceased residents shall be destroyed within thirty (30) days. Unit dose medications returnable to the pharmacy shall be returned within thirty (30) days. II/III
